Part 1 of the 2-part 'Small Glass Worlds.' Still entrapped in a globe, Auberon's soul is living the high life while his body, with Gwendolyn's assistance, searches for its other half. Marya is pursued by a crazed Daniel as the obliviously giddy Tim and Molly set off on their first date.

Auberon's soul, trapped within Sister Staylace's globe, dreams a fantasy of perfect satisfaction, only to remember that it is a dream, and that it is trapped. We see the rack of globes start to drift away in the flood of the sewers.

Tim tries to figure out how to get out of the sewers himself, and unknowingly passes by the soul-less body of Auberon, still working the machines. He runs into Awn the Blink, who tells him that he destroyed Slaggingham. Tim recognizes Awn, but can't place where he's seen him.

Marya rides the unicorn back to her dance school. Daniel follows her and confronts her.

Awn explains to Tim that he, and a number of other creatures currently wandering around like the Wobbly and the Gnarls, were created by Tim's imagination when he was a young boy. Awn leads Tim to the surface, where they reunite with Molly. She teases them and it feels like good times.

Sister Staylace and Brother Salamander get out to the surface as well, when Staylace remembers the globes--and the soulless men who work Slaggingham's machines--are stuck underground and in danger. She goes back down to check, but they're drowned. She looks for and finds Auberon, who doesn't need to breathe, and is fine.

Auberon's soul continues its dream. It begins to dream of Staylace, and to ask her questions about what to do with his life. Just then, the real Staylace and Auberon find the globe, and Auberon asks how to put it back in.
